Belt Squat

What is it?
The Belt Squat is a compound lower body exercise that allows you to build strength and muscle in your legs while reducing the load placed on your spine. The weight is attached to a belt around your hips, making it an excellent option for those looking to squat comfortably or train their lower body without placing stress on the upper body.

Primary Muscles Worked

  • Quadriceps

  • Glutes

  • Hamstrings

  • Calves

How to Use
Attach the belt securely around your waist and connect it to the weight system. Stand on the platform with your feet about shoulder-width apart and release the safety mechanism if applicable. Lower yourself into a squat by bending your knees and hips until you reach a comfortable depth. Push through your heels to stand back up, stopping just short of locking your knees before repeating.

Coaching Tips

  • Keep your chest up and maintain a neutral spine throughout the movement.

  • Drive through your heels to maximise leg engagement.

  • Keep your knees tracking in line with your toes.

  • Lower yourself under control and avoid rushing the movement.
